Digital accessibility

We are committed to improving our online services so that they can be used by everyone.

Accessibility statement

EFG is committed to ensuring digital accessibility, so our online services can be used by everyone. We are continually improving the user experience and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

This statement was prepared on 02/05/2025 and it was last reviewed on 18/06/2025

Measures to support accessibility

EFG takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of the digital channels:

  • Integrate accessibility into our web development and design processes
  • Regularly test our website/app for accessibility issues
  • Train our staff on accessibility best practices
  • Engage with accessibility experts

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. The EFG digital channels are partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are working towards achieving AA across our channels, please see section ‘Limitations’ for more information.

Assessment Approach

We work with Access for All and ASPHI who have assessed the EFG digital channels and provided us with a detailed report of their findings. They assessed our channels by using the following approaches:

  • Testing webpages using assistive technologies (screen reader software JAWS and NVDA) and various testing tools
  • Some testers themselves are affected with a disability

We are also ensuring that new development work is thoroughly tested, working closely with our development partner Zuehlke, who have accessibility experts to test and recommend best practices for new components that we develop.

Limitations

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the EFG digital channels there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations and our planned solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Contrasts – some content and controls have insufficient contrast
We are replacing all low contrast colour combinations, using software to test and ensure a contrast of 4:5:1 or 3:1 depending on the asset. We are aiming to have replaced all the failing colour contrasts by the end of 2026.

Text alternatives – some informative images and graphical buttons do not have correct text alternatives
All new imagery uploaded has text alternatives when informative and we are continually fixing the existing images. We are also reviewing and fixing icons that serve as links or buttons – by the end of 2026 we aim to have replaced all icons across the digital channels that serve as functional elements.

Semantic structure of content – headings are not always formatted correctly
We are rebuilding all the pages within the web and mobile channel, which includes the formatting of headings, navigation, breadcrumbs, content, and the footer. The work has begun; however, this will take time due to the complexity of each application – we are targeting completion of all the client channels by the end of 2027.

Keyboard operability – no visible skip links, keyboard focus is not always visible, and some interactive controls cannot be used with the keyboard
We are adding skip navigation links, ARIA roles and properties to enhance keyboard accessibility and have designed a visible focus indicator (a border) to clearly highlight when an interactive element is in focus. The new keyboard requirements are part of each page rebuild and therefore we are targeting completion at the end of 2027.

Semantics of dynamic controls – several dynamic widgets (tabs, accordions, etc.) have no correct roles and states, and cannot be understood when using a screen reader
We have created a new design system and are redesigning and rebuilding all the components used in the web and mobile channels. All interactive elements are assigned a role so that a screen reader can identify the elements correctly. The new design system is the basis for the page rebuilds and therefore we are targeting completion at the end of 2027.
