The establishment of a local presence in Switzerland’s capital will enable EFG to stay close to its Swiss and international clients in the Greater Bern area. The new office will be run by experienced CROs and specialists who have established networks and long-term experience in serving clients in these locations.
In Bern, EFG aims to serve global high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients domiciled in Switzerland and in international markets where EFG has longstanding experience and a proven track record. Its client offering includes the full range of wealth management services as well as residential mortgages and loans. The new Bern team will also work closely with the Gstaad team. The Bern office is sited in a prime location at Marktgasse 37 in the heart of the historic city centre.
The CROs Sandro Steiner and Dominik Bühler, both with a deep understanding of the local market, will start as of 01 September 2026.
Sandro Steiner is a seasoned banker with over three decades of experience in the private banking industry. He joined EFG from UBS, where he served as Head Thun and Private Wealth Berner Oberland from 2023 to 2026. Prior to that, he spent more than 7 years at independent asset managers and a total of 28 years at UBS in global wealth management positions in Switzerland and abroad. He will be covering Berner Oberland and Thun.
Dominik Bühler brings 30 years of industry experience. He joined EFG from UBS, where he served as Senior Client Advisor, Executives & Entrepreneurs Bern. He has spent his entire career to date in senior positions at UBS, which he joined in 1991. Dominik Bühler will be overseeing Seeland and Biel.
Franco Polloni, Head of Switzerland & Italy Region of EFG: “By further expanding our presence in our Swiss home market, we are strengthening client coverage in an attractive region that is strategically important for EFG. I am delighted to welcome Sandro Steiner and Dominik Bühler to EFG, who will report directly to Manuel Blanco. With their extensive experience and deep understanding of the local market, I am confident that they will play a key role in driving EFG’s growth and further expanding our franchise in the Greater Bern area.”
Manuel Blanco, Head of Private Banking Gstaad & Greater Bern Area of EFG: “The opening of our new office in Bern is a natural next step in the region following the success of Gstaad. I am very much looking forward to working with Sandro Steiner and Dominik Bühler.”
