Professional history and education
Alexander Classen is a recognised leader in international wealth management with a proven track record of driving growth and successfully executing business transformations.

He has over 30 years of industry experience and has held senior leadership roles at a number of renowned global organisations. He served as CEO & Country Head Switzerland at HSBC Private Bank (Suisse) SA from 2018 to 2022. Prior to that, he was Managing Partner at Bedrock, a global investment and advisory firm based in Geneva. From 2011 to 2015, Alexander Classen was CEO of Coutts International. Earlier in his career, he spent four years at Morgan Stanley International as Head of Private Wealth Management EMEA and, from 2000 to 2006, he was General Manager of Goldman Sachs Bank AG in Zurich. He began his career at Pictet in 1985 as a portfolio manager and private banker, later serving as local CEO in Singapore from 1995 to 2000.

Alexander Classen became a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Swiss Asset and Wealth Management Banks (VAV/ABG) in September 2026. He was previously Vice Chair of the Association of Foreign Banks in Switzerland (AFBS) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Bankers Association (SBA).

Alexander Classen holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Geneva.
