Heading the line-up is the world number three from Germany, Alexander Zverev, a two-time ATP Finals champion and Olympic Gold medallist, who has won nine of his 24 titles on clay. Zverev is making his Gstaad debut, in contrast to the returning two-time Gstaad champions Casper Ruud (Norway, ATP 16) and Matteo Berrettini (Italy, ATP 34) who will be looking to defend his title. Berrettini has made no secret of how much the event means to him and he is sure to receive a warm welcome from the crowd, as will local favourite Stan Wawrinka, a star of the tournament for over two decades.
Also making his Gstaad debut is the entertaining player Alexander Bublik (KAZ, ATP 45) who recently made headlines by defeating two ATP top 10 players en route to his first Grand Slam quarter final at Roland Garros in Paris. Other more familiar faces include last year’s semi-finalist Jan-Lennard Struff (GER), Tomás Martín Etcheverry (ARG), Pedro Martínez (ESP) and the US Open winner from 2014, Marin Čilić (CRO).
The tournament was first held 110 years ago, and it remains one of the most prestigious events on the men’s professional tennis circuit.
