The Peggy Guggenheim Collection launches ‘Conversations on Conservation’

Last year, EFG strengthened the long-standing relationship with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection to become a patron of the new conservation lab, a state-of-the-art space dedicated to the study and preservation of the many precious artworks in the museum.

The creation of the lab has, for the first time, brought the restoration process into public view, offering a rare and valuable insight into the complex work of the conservation team. This is explored in more detail on the Peggy Guggenheim Collection website.

To mark the conservation lab’s one-year anniversary, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection has also just launched a six-part content series entitled ‘Conversations on Conservation’. Each short video tells the unseen stories, techniques, and discoveries behind some of the museum’s most celebrated masterpieces, including those of Jackson Pollock and Piet Mondrian.

The first video in the series, ‘Alchemy’ (1947) reveals the hidden secrets of one of Jackson Pollock’s most iconic paintings. All subsequent episodes in the series will be released weekly via the Peggy Guggenheim Collection’s own social media channels.

In supporting the conservation lab, we can share and stay true to the museum’s core mission: to make art accessible, leave a lasting cultural legacy and inspire generations for years to come.
