Against the backdrop of the current conflict in the Middle East, Monika Schmutz Kirgöz, Ambassador and Head of the Middle East and North Africa Division of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), speaks to InTalks about the enduring importance of Swiss diplomacy in this increasingly uncertain environment. In particular, she highlights the need to stay agile and constantly adapt as a new world order emerges. Highlighting challenges such as interruptions to supply chains and the risk of famine in some regions of the globe if current tensions persist, Ambassador Schmutz Kirgöz emphasises that diplomats are working day and night to resolve this volatile situation and end suffering. In this context, she explains that Switzerland is always ready to help and to advocate for peace.
