Investment Controller – Asset Management

General Description

You will join our EFG Asset Management Risk Team in Switzerland and work very closely with other locations, such as Luxembourg and Monaco.
EFG Asset Management Risk Team is a second line of defence unit in charge of independent risk oversight for asset management products and services, such as discretionary portfolios, investment funds and institutional clients.

Main responsibilities

Main tasks (70%)

• In charge of performing and developing second line of defence (independent) risk controls for the discretionary portfolios managed in other regions (2 or 3 countries).
• Perform the controls of the Risk framework, covering portfolios guidelines/restrictions breaches, performance deviations, turnover, volatility, tactical asset allocation, investment outside approved universe, operational incidents, etc. using mainly Excel and the Portfolio Management Tool (Charles River Investment Management).
• Monitor and oversee the monthly production of performance composites (inspired from GIPS).
• Producing monthly key risk indicators.
• Prepare the documentation, reporting, analysis and recommendations related to the issues identified in the controls and present the pack to Senior Management during the quarterly ICRC (Investment Control & Risk Committee).
• Acting as a back-up of the Swiss Risk Team resources.

Additional tasks (30%)

• Monitor and enforce adherence to policies and procedure.
• Follow local projects and provide guidance on risk matters.
• Provide guidance to local Portfolios Managers.
• Enhance Risk reporting, methodologies and tools.
• Participate in the development of processes & procedures in the field of Operations and Portfolio Management.
• Answer Audit requests and liaise with Compliance, Operations and Portfolio Management.

Skills and experience

• Master’s degree in Finance/Economics/Business or Scientific sciences.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Risk controls on discretionary portfolio management, or Market Risk, or Investment control/investment compliance/investment risk.
• Very strong Excel skills are crucial (VBA is a plus, but not mandatory).
• Good numerical and IT skills.
• French fluent and very good level of English written/spoken.
• Previous experience in a Bank or asset manager based in Switzerland.
